Manufacturer: UGEARS Mechanical models
Serenity’s Dream is a spring-powered sailboat capable of performing a series of tacking maneuvers over a distance of up to 4 meters on a flat surface. To operate it, set the Start/Stop switch — located on the cabin roof — to the Stop position. Remove the winding key from the foredeck, insert it into the ratchet mechanism on the starboard hull and give it a few turns. Place the key back on the deck, set the boat on a flat surface, flip the Start/Stop switch to Start and watch as your yacht sets sail, executing a series of graceful, zigzagging tacking maneuvers.
The realistic details of this DIY wooden sailboat model include two rigged paper sails — a mainsail and a jib — featuring a furling system that allows you to roll and unroll the sails with a simple twist. Notable features include an elegant cabin, stanchions and rope railings lining the deck, dual helms for steering from above, a retractable anchor, laser-engraved decking on the bow and a reverse transom bearing the engraved Ugears logo.
The Serenity’s Dream sailboat model consists of 365 parts and is rated as Medium difficulty, making it a project well-suited for modelers with some experience. As with other Ugears mechanical marvels, no glue or special tools are required to build this beauty: simply pop the laser-cut pieces out of the high-quality composite wood boards and snap them together. Illustrated instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Korean) guide the assembly and each kit includes a piece of sandpaper and wax to smooth and lubricate moving parts.
