Your new vessel is fully equipped for serious research: it features a deep-sea exploration bathyscaphe, a small motorboat and lifeboat, a launch ramp, an opening hatch and other fun, realistic details found on actual ships. The model is equipped with a tilting boom crane for cargo handling and lifting the bathyscaphe; use the crane to hoist the bathyscaphe from the depths and secure it onto the platform.

All parts of the research vessel are crafted from high-quality wood, requiring no glue or additional tools for assembly. The ship’s skeletal hull design allows you to look inside the hold and engine room to see the inner workings. The model is powered by a rubber-band motor and regulated by a pendulum. A clever gearbox arrangement mimics the sound of a diesel engine while ensuring the ship moves with a steady, rhythmic pace. The model offers three movement modes: forward, turning and automatic maneuvering, all controlled by a manual lever.

Like all Ugears models, the research vessel is assembled using interlocking parts — no glue required—and the process is guided by detailed, step-by-step color instructions.
