Inspired by classic science documentaries and biographies of exceptional marine explorers, the Research Vessel embodies the power and beauty of large modern icebreakers and survey boats.
Your new vessel has everything you need for proper research: a deep-sea exploration bathyscaphe, a small motorboat and a lifeboat, a ramp, an opening hatch and other fun and interesting elements found on real-life ships. The model features a swinging jib crane for managing cargo and lifting the bathyscaphe. Use the crane to lift the bathyscaphe from the depths and secure it to a special extension platform.
All the details are made of high-quality wood that does not require glue or additional tools for assembly. The skeletal design of the ship’s structure allows you to look into the hold and engine room and see what makes it move. The energy that moves the model is produced by a rubber band motor and managed by a pendulum. A clever arrangement of the gearbox in this block imitates the sound of a diesel engine and provides a smooth and constant rhythm to the ship. The model has three modes of movement: forward, turn and automatic maneuver. The modes are controlled with a lever that you can switch manually.
Like all Ugears models, the Research Vessel is assembled entirely by interlocking, without glue and all stages of assembly are described in detailed step-by-step color instructions.
