The sea and the beach, always symbols of freedom and escape, are the theme of this volume that, through the shots of eight famous photographers of the Magnum agency – Ferdinando Scianna, Bruno Barbey, Bruce Gilden, Harry Gruyaert, Martin Parr, Trent Parke, Olivia Arthur and Newsha Tavakolian – tells the story of the beach as the setting for intimate and universal moments, in which bodies, emotions and landscapes intertwine. A place of contrasts and reflections, where carefree joy mixes with the solitude, introspection and subtle humor of everyday life.
Through the eyes of these great photographers, we observe how “beach” photography can go well beyond the traditional aesthetic imagination, revealing the deepest nuances of human existence.
