Mechanical Aquarium

The Ugears Mechanical Aquarium is an ingenious saltwater aquarium featuring two tropical fish chasing each other around a forest of seaweed fronds, within which hides another small inhabitant of the marine environment: a seahorse!

This DIY aquarium also boasts a unique mechanical action. The fish and seaweed rotate simultaneously and in parallel — at different speeds and in different directions — simulating the fluid, undulating rhythms of underwater life. The fish appear to be truly swimming as they move their heads and tails from side to side. This model is unique because, while many Ugears models are powered by rubber-band motors, the aquarium is driven by a spring mechanism, ensuring longer-lasting action and greater durability.

To set the model in motion, simply turn the knob beneath the aquarium about 25 half-turns and flip the switch from STOP to SWIM mode; then, watch as your mechanical aquarium comes to life! You can stop the movement at any time or simply let it run, enjoying the motions of the mechanical fish and seaweed fronds for about 40 seconds.

Like all Ugears models, the Mechanical Aquarium is assembled entirely using interlocking parts — no glue required—and the assembly process is guided by detailed, step-by-step color instructions.
