of Dreams and Waves is much more than a photographic book: it is a visual narrative of a unique and unrepeatable event. After two years of sailing around the world, the Amerigo Vespucci — the most beautiful ship in the world — returned to Italy, greeted by a wave of collective enthusiasm that Carlo Mari‘s lens captured in all its intensity. Emotions and images from the day a dream came true. The Barcolana Special Edition welcomed the Vespucci home, with the Frecce Tricolori offering a spectacular tribute to the tall ship, painting the sky with their unmistakable trail of colors. Awaiting her at the quay was the imposing Trieste, which, from its flight deck, projects the traditions of the Italian Navy into the future.
Each photograph is a fragment of dream and wave — just as the title suggests — capable of conveying the sense of anticipation, the power of the sea and the beauty of a ship that has always represented Italy around the world. The volume, entirely in color and featuring over 70 previously unpublished shots, was created in collaboration with the Italian Navy.
With the preface of Giuseppe Lai, Captain of the Vespucci.
