In this period of time, the Italian fleet is practically destroyed. With a variety of sources, from the documentation of the Historical Office of the Navy, to the Historical Archive of Confitarma, to individual essays and works on this topic, the volume reconstructs this story in a chronological key. Often, in fact, The history of the Italian merchant navy in the conflict has been told through episodes of individual ships, but beyond the tragic cases of ships and crews, there is a broader story: the political, military and diplomatic one.
