Around the world in 80 days at the toughest sailing regatta of all time!
Alone, relentlessly, always on the edge – Boris Herrmann did it! He was the first German to sail his Seaexplorer – Yacht Club de Monaco at the Vendée Globe, the toughest regatta in the world. When he arrives in Les Sables d’Olonnes in fifth place after 80 days and a dramatic finale, in Germany he is regarded as the moral winner of the competition.
This exclusive calendar also allows us to participate in the artistic transformation of the Malizia – Seaexplorer, because With its 400 square meters, the sail is probably the largest work of art in the world that has ever circumnavigated the earth under its own power. The New York artist Sarah Morris, in fact, has created the spinnaker of the Imoca, helping to expand the media platform about the climate change topic, dear to Herrmann and his team.
Whether it’s the toughest sailing regatta in the world or the hunt for the Jules Verne Trophy, Boris Herrmann loves extreme experiences on the high seas. But his sailing adventures aren’t just extreme sports: with his My Ocean Challenge campaign, he is committed to protecting the oceans, promoting the conservation of mangrove forests and committing himself to climate protection. In 2019, he also sailed with Fridays for Future activist Greta Thunberg on Malice II to accompany her to the climate summit in New York.
