This book is the result of a twenty-year love affair with Malaysia’s underwater world. In a few words and 350 full-colour pictures, culled from fifteen years’ intensive photography in Malaysian waters, Captain Sim Yong Wah has assembled a personal statement of his love and fears for this most magnificent of ecosystems. It was with an equal appreciation for the wonder and beauty of the underwater world and of the threats to that world that this book was produced. It has been designed as showcase of what is most precious in the seas of Malaysia. It is not meant to be a memorial to what may not exist in the future, but unless those who exploit the marine environment wake up to the damage being done by thoughtlessness and lack of foresight, it may well be.
