Is it possible to build a boat in less than 20 hours and for less than $ 20? Zu Freeman’s long experience with boatbuilding led him to believe it could be done. So in answer to the 20/20 challenge, Freeman developed the Jawbone principle (keep it simple and use what’s available). This meant using recycled materials, but the resulting boat was built in less than 20 hours for less than $ 20 and was the first jawbone-12 afloat. It was light, stable, easy to handle and attractive. Furthermore, it could be built by an amateur.
