Description
Carlo Borlenghi was born in Bellano, on Lake Como, where he began his career as a photographer following local regattas. Still young, thanks to his passion for the sea and the collaboration with the magazine Uomo Mare Vogue, he travels the world following the most important international nautical events. At just 27 years old, in 1983 he followed the enterprises of Azzurra, the first Italian boat to partecipate in the America’s Cup in Newport (Rhode Island, USA). Since then, he has been the official photographer for several America’s Cup campaigns.
He is the official photographer of Rolex international nautical events. Since 1994 he has been following the boats, the world tours and the adventures of Giovanni Soldini. He has also followed several editions of the Whitbread Round the World Race. In 2000 he was the photographer of Club Med of Grant Dalton, winner of The Race (the round the world in catamaran without stop and without assistance) and the following year the official photographer of Amer Sports One and Amer Sports Too during the 2001/2002 Volvo Ocean Race.
In 1983 he obtained the Marian Skubin award for the best sports photography published in Italy. Winner for three consecutive years of the Marina di Pescara award for the dissemination of nautical photography in Italy. In 1986 he won the Grand Prix Professional de la Photo de Mer in Paris organized by the French Chamber of Commerce. In 2003 he won the Omega Photocronache award as the best sports photographer. In 2007 he won the Grand Prix de l’Image Course au Large by Salon Nautique de Paris.
In 2007 he received a plaque from the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano for his many years of intense activity in favor of the sailing world and exhibited at the Louis Vuitton space in Paris for the Winds and Sails photographic exhibition dedicated to the America’s Cup. In 2012 personal exhibition in Paris at the Mairie du XVI Arrondissement. In 2015 personal exhibition in Milan in the Dream Factory space. In 2015 personal exhibition at the Iseo Arsenal.
